2019 Beauty Brands Lash Bash!

It's the most wonderful time of the year! No, not Christmas - the Annual Lash Bash at Beauty Brands! With a BUNCH of mascara priced at only $10.98 (up to 60% off) through September 29, it's the perfect chance to stock up on your favorites and try some new goodies too. Plus, you'll get the Daily Concepts Charcoal Sponge ($8 value) for FREE with the purchase of three mascaras! Thanks so much to Beauty Brands for sponsoring this post, I'm always thrilled at the opportunity to try new beauty products!

In addition to this blog post, I also created an IGTV video where I applied each of the mascaras below and shared an extensive review of every product. Tips on how I apply my mascara, the importance of curling my lashes, and the performance of each product are all included in the video - go check it out here!

As a person with annoyingly straight eyelashes, I always get nervous to try new mascara. Excited, but nervous. For me, I find the most success when I use mascara that is waterproof and/or has a dryer or gel like formula. Wetter mascaras tend to weigh my eyelashes down making them lose curl and go absolutely flat.

I picked the following five mascaras because they seemed to be the most likely candidates to hold curl and keep my lashes from going full flop. Many are water resistant or waterproof, promise lift, and have a more substantial formula. But, first things first...

I'm a firm believer that every mascara look is drastically enhanced when you curl your lashes but not all eyelash curlers are created equal. My favorite eyelash curlers have a bit of resistance via some kind of spring type mechanism that defaults the eyelash curler to open position and requires you to apply pressure to close it. Other eyelash curlers are, well, floppy and don't really add the oomph I need to get a strong, lasting curl. I also look for a curler with pads that are easily replaced and with grippy handles (you definitely don't want to slip when using this nifty tool).

When I saw that this Tarte Picture Perfect Eyelash Curler and Lights, Camera, Lashes! deluxe sample was part of the Lash Bash sale I knew I had to give it a try! The good news is it ticks all the boxes in the good-curler column. This eyelash curler offers good resistance, a replaceable pad, and even a mascara sample! The one thing I wish was slightly different is the opening where your lashes go. It's just a touch narrow so, for those with longer lashes, it may be a slightly different curling experience than you're used to. I'd definitely recommend giving it a try, I've enjoyed using it so far!

With the power of triple-black mineral pigments, Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint absolutely delivered on it's promise to deliver super black lashes from root to tip. I experienced no lash droopage like I normally do and I was able to really get the product into the base of my lashes creating a tightlined effect. This mascara did a great job lifting and separating my lashes and was also easy to layer. It's a great option when you want a mascara that can look natural or dramatic. Definitely would recommend and I would really love to have this mascara in a waterproof version!

Smashbox's Super Fan Mascara promises to create 12 hour volume, length, and lift as well as a fanned-out look without clumping, smudging or flaking. While I didn't wear it for a full 12 hours, I can say that this mascara glided on easily and dried quickly. It seemed to do a good job of keeping my lashes up and did add volume and length. When comparing it to the Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara, the Tarte mascara seemed to be a bit more buildable and pigmented at the base than the Smashbox Super Fan Mascara.

If you're looking for defined, lengthened, fuller-looking lashes, then Buxom's Lash Volumizing Mascara is the one for you! I was incredible impressed with this product and felt that it added the best lift, volume, and length out of the 5 mascaras I tried. My lashes were instantly coated and separated without any drooping at all. The color was also very pigmented which looked beautiful too! Plus, this mascara nourishes and conditions lashes with vitamins and antioxidants. I was expecting this mascara to get crunchy but it stayed soft while maintaining the curl I'd put in my lashes. I'm absolutely going to be stocking up on this one!

This mascara offers length, definition, and fullness but the real stand-out feature is the unique 180 spiraled mascara wand! Designed to spiral and coat all your lashes in smudge-free color, the mascara wand is also tapered at the tip so you can get to those hard to reach lashes. This mascara holds a lot of promise but I think will take some practice to get used to the spiral wand! When I applied it, the formula felt wetter than the others which caused my lashes to stick together a bit more than I liked; however, I think with a little practice it'll become a fave!

Inspired by Smashbox's on-set technique of layering fiber mascara over volumizing mascara, drama is the name of Full Exposure's game. Length and volume are definitely delivered with this mascara but I do think it takes a bit of finesse to avoid slight clumping. My advice? Take advantage of Full Exposure's buildable nature and apply it in thin layers. The flexible coverage should keep your lashes feeling comfortable all day long without getting hard or crunchy. This mascara is also sweat and humidity resistant which is perfect for balmy Midwest Septembers (seriously, it's been really hot and humid here lately and fall is nowhere in sight).

Overall, I think the Buxom Lash Volumizing Mascara stole the show. It instantly made my lashes look well defined and fluttery while simultaneously adding length and volume (which isn't easy)! I will absolutely be running back to Beauty Brands before the sale is over September 29th to snag more! I also fell for the Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara since it was oh-so-pigmented and made my lash line look super thick. I'm curious what it'd be like layered with another mascara like the Buxom Lash Volumizing Mascara or the Smashbox Full Exposure Waterproof Mascara (another fave). The Smashbox Full Exposure Waterpoof Mascara was all drama from the moment I applied it! I'm so excited to try this mascara again especially when creating a dramatic evening look. I feel like it'll take my lashes to the next level with just a little practice!

I can't wait to hear all of these mascaras into my makeup routine and will absolutely share my thoughts over time as well. Let me know what you think! Are there any mascaras you're rushing to try? Tell me in the comments or over on Instagram! And don't forget to watch my full review on IGTV - you can watch the video right here!
